Finding my (electric) wheels

Hello,
I've recently replaced my bike and that led to me have a look at ebikes, and I've decided i need a kit. I've spent a while looking around and have narrowed it down to the juicy kit and the 8fun kit, but I've got a few questions i am hoping someone can help me with.
firstly i want to be able to pedal under my own power and then throttle in some power when i need it mainly hills and stopping me from turning up everywhere sweaty and exhausted. from reading the info on both these kits i think the 8fun will do this but I'm unsure whether the juicy will? if it does how do you switch between the modes?
this bike is going to be my main form of transport so it could be left out in the rain so i was wondering about the weather resistance of the controllers? i be taking the battery with me, would i have to then cover the controller from rain?
lastly (for now anyway) with the 8fun kit if i mounted a front rack could i put the battery in a bag and then just connect/disconnect it as needed?

Thanks

Both kits have the functions you want. The Juicy kit has the frog-type battery which mounts on the seat-post, which is good if you have rear suspension. The 8fun kit has a rack battery, but also has the control panel to cut down the power if you want. Both kits are moderately waterproof when riding, but you wouldn't want to leave them out in a down-pour because you can get water in the throttle, though you could always put a plastic bag over it. Both have similar range and power.

Ther's a used Juicy kit for sale in the Classified section.

Hi Blink and welcome to the forum.

I want to be able to pedal under my own power and then throttle in some power when i need it.... how do you switch between the modes?
Yes, no problem with that set-up. You can choose to add the pedal sensor to the crank, or not. You may also decide to use the isolator switch at the throttle to either isolate the throttle (default) or use to switch off the pedal sensor, as recommended by another Pedelec forum member.

...would i have to then cover the controller from rain?
Always wise if you can't find a bike shed and it's pouring down. The battery does lock into the carrier for security...

...lastly (for now anyway) with the 8fun kit if i mounted a front rack could i put the battery in a bag and then just connect/disconnect it as needed?
That sounds like it might make the front of the bike very heavy, and possibly badly affect steering and stability.

We have kits in all sizes in stock (low on 28") and do offer a fitting service if you're near to South Manchester.

Hope this helps your decision.
