A bloke I see on the road regularly, has a mid drive ebike with one of those trailer things in which the kid sits. This is a really busy main road. Is it really wise taking a little kid in one of those things? I only use this road if I have to. I try to keep to cycle lanes.

What's the likely hood of the risk happening? How often do kid trailers get squished? You readily admit a nervous disposition. That's your issue. The more people who use bikes the safer it will be, don't put people off.

Not at all wise. It's no good being in the right if you end up dead right.
So what do you suggest? He goes out and buys the biggest polluting SUV he can, wraps his kids in cotton wool and crash helmets & body armour, never lets them out of the house? What is that teaching them?

What if this guy can't afford a car? If we don't know this guy's situation we shouldn't rush in to judge him.

The rest of us who drive cars need to be damn careful on the roads and be considerate of other road users of ALL kinds, including horses etc. Remember, a car is potentially a deadly weapon.

With kiddie trailers get the bright coloured ones Red/Yellow, make sure a good pennant is used & use bright rear day flashing lights.
