both look good to me for the price. buying it for my 21 year old for college run. Six miles round trip with one steep hill ( approx half mile long ) he's about 14 stone in old money. He likes them both so that's a good thing but comparing the specs means nothing to me I have little understanding of those kinds of things so I'm hopeful someone can just say that bike is Best Buy that one lol.

The Karoo is more road orientated, but would be fine on well-made cycle paths.

The Vita Uno is no mountain bike, but it would handle slightly rougher conditions.

Not much to choose between them in terms of quality, budget Chinese which can be reliable but can also give niggly faults, particularly with the electrics.

I hear what you are saying about the steep hill, but three miles would be almost as quick on a decent quality pushbike, which you could get for the budget.

Much simpler than pratting around with charging batteries and the extra fettling needed by an ebike.

the Karoo has very good components for a Chinese bike. The crankset for example is the same Ounce 245A-45T as on this $4,000 Benellli Rapida

The brakes are from Avid, the battery is 13AH or 15AH with Samsung cells.
If you want to get the Karoo, you should do so before 1st April, price goes up by £40 to £50. The Bali is also worth a look:

hi scott I have the uno I am 67 13stone, the uno has 10.4ah battery and 3 levels of assisatance low, med, high
the karoo is lighter and has 13ah battery (with option of 15ah) but has 6 levels of assistance (I find on the kudos I would like to be between level 1 &2 to eke out range)

I am assuming a rear rack + panners +locks would be needed adding to the weight.

I think my main concern would be depending on whatever bike you choose where is it going to be locked up, would you want to remove battery each day and lug around aprox 7lbs.

as a slight aside last week myself on uno, shopping uphill level 3, neighbour on Carrera hellcat mtb 29er aged 10 on pavement arrived together, exept he was bright red from the effort.

for a round trip of 6 miles you could get a nice bike for £250-£300 unpowered as others have mentioned

The Karoo looks the much better bike to me with a stronger battery and top class CS, a road bike or tarmac cycle path use. The Uno is cheaper and is for unmade cycle routes but exceptable for a first foray in to ebikes, the syle nay suit a younger rider.

My husband has the Vita Uno. It climbs hills very well but he has complained that it is in gear 21 almost all the time and he doesn't have much use for the lower gears. He is in his 60's but fairly fit for his age.
No problems with it yet and it is certainly a looker.
