Just spotted this. Looks like a bargain for someone (nothing to do with me):

Think this is a 36 spoke variety. We bought 2 Pro Connects around that time. Mine was a diamond frame with 28" wheels which were the 24 spoke variety. However, my wife's step thru Pro Connect had 26" wheels and 36 spokes. Touching wood, I've not had any problems with the 24 spoker after 7,000 miles, but have to admit that I ride my Pro Connect S most of the time now, with the older one consigned to "hacking about in all weathers" status! I know others had trouble with the infamous 24 spokers. It looks like one of the early 24 spoke wheel models. That is probably why the rear wheel have been re-built. I can't see if it has been re-built to a 24 spoke specification, but if it has, I'd be cautious.
Upon closer inspection, I think you are right. Although the front wheel still looks like a 24 spoke job to me.Think this is a 36 spoke variety. We bought 2 Pro Connects around that time. Think you're right. The front wheel is a 24 spoker. The ad says the rear wheel/hub was rebuilt by 50cycles recently for £100 and new gear change fitted for £35 and it looks like 36 spokes. Reckon my wife's Pro Connect from the same era was a variant, they must've started changing the step thru' to 36 spokes beforethediamond frames. £100 for essentially a new rear wheel and hub must be good value? Reckon the original rear was a 24 spoke one, which I think is a problem to sort if it goes wrong. As I said I 'm going to keep touching wood re my 24 spoker! Didn't you have problems with a 24 spoke one? Back wheel wasn't it.Upon closer inspection, I think you are right. Although the front wheel still looks like a 24 spoke job to me.
Yes, I had difficulty finding a new rear wheel rim after the original wore out after a couple of thousand miles / 9 month from new. In the end I wrote a polite letter to Kalkhoff to say that the 24 spoke wheel let down an otherwise great bike. They sent me a new 2 x 32 spoke front wheels and 2 x 32 spoke rear wheels complete with 2 Alfine gear hubs. The spares are in my garage, just in case. But after 12000 miles the first two are doing well!Didn't you have problems with a 24 spoke one? Back wheel wasn't it.
