That's a shame - placed an order two days ago and only got 10% off......

I suppose I shouldn't complain but it does make one feel irritated.

The Agattu C8 Impulse looks very nice. I like how the battery has been formed so that the bike retains more of a conventional shape, rather than the elongated rear end that is usual with the Panasonic driven systems.

I have always thought that the Agattu is a good all round bike. The price is a bit eye watering though, which is a shame.

I'm tempted by the 20% off the batteries. My Panasonic battery is 3 years old and still manages my 20 mile round trip commute, but I don't know how much longer it will last. Will it fail suddenly or will it continue with a slow decline in capacity. If its the latter, I may eek another year out of it, but if it is likely to fail suddenly, I should be taking advantage of this offer.

What I don't want to do is buy the new battery too soon and either have it sitting on the shelf deteriorating whilst I wait for my present battery to fail, or to consign my present battery to the bin prematurely. What a dilemma. Any thoughts?

Also, there is my policy of never, ever buying anything until after January 1st. It simply isn't right to be shopping between Christmas and the New Year.

Ring them up and complain ask for the 20% discount or you will cancel your order, they will then have to give you the discount or lose a lot of money.

Haha! Well, apart from a severe bout of 'Bah Humbug' on my part, I can't really complain if they decide to do a special offer on top of the other special offer before the ink is dry on my deal.

Apart from that, to get the 10% discount required full payment in advance on the pre-order, so cancellation isn't really possible.

I will nevertheless give them a call tomorrow - it won't do any harm to be a bit cheeky and ask.

I did of course pay by credit card - pre-orders can be tricky things without the financial protection of a credit card if in the time between placing the order and its fulfillment the business you're dealing with should fail. One should not forget that we live in troubled times.....

like Paul said cancel and order again tommorow...The distance selling regs apply, with a 7 day cooling off period I believe. I am very tempted by the 20% deal as well, but they dont have demo bikes in stock so reluctant to order blind as I made that mistake already this year......

You do have a point - I'd quite forgotten about that. Thanks!

I'm in no hurry for delivery - their guesstimate of February or even March would do fine.

20% sounds like a generous discount but in reality, it simply brings the price down to extortionate. To be fair to 50Cycles, it's a nice range/variety of bikes but there is a very small market in this country prepared to pay German prices for bikes.

I look forward to some comparative reviews of the new propulsion systems but I have a real difficulty understanding the pricing structure across their range.

The 20% discount brings the cost of the 21kg ProConnect down to around the same price it was three years ago, on it's introduction, and it has almost twice the battery capacity plus increased power.
A good time to buy if your in the market for a new bike IMHO.

I totally agree....And it brings the S class Bosch pro connect down to £2156, an excellent price indeed for such a bike.

I think they will have difficulty shifting some of the 36 v Panasonics at around £4000 though....

when you put in a order it comes up with original price including vat, it does not show price with 20% discount.

That statement of £2156 for such a bike,is where i start thinking it is just a bike with an electric motor, although i am a huge fan of electric bikes i just do not see any value for money at the 20% off prices, and £4000 for a push bike even if i won the lottery i would not spend that much money on a bike.

It would be really interesting to know how much higher end e-bikes (kalkhoff etc) might cost if they were produced in the same volumes as cars. I think global car production is around the 800,000 - 1,000,000 a week!

Anyway I'm happy to get a 20% discount off a new battery for my older pro-connect :)

That is entirely your choice, and if your happy riding some generic Chinese bike thats fine also. My LBS down the road is very popular (De Ver) and sells road bikes at £2-5000. Likewise mountain bikes can cost £2-3000 and the Sky's the limits really.

In this day and age I dont see £2000 for a E bike as unrealistic as long as it lightweight and well specified

A shame 50 cycles cant keep the 20% deal up until the new year!:)
