Unless my computer is playing up, a thread concerning forum member (20ston) who purchased a Haibike from Justebikes has been removed. Looking at my post history, it appears that all of the contributions that I made to that thread have also disappeared.

Is it my computer, or has the thread been removed?

indeed...it seems so. All that humour and angst gone to waste. Haibike of the list anyway:rolleyes::p

this site has lost any balance it had anyway..Far to much inappropriate pluging of product by dealers. was OK up until this year

Must admit Eddie I was thinking the same. It seems every time someone asks for options of bike to buy that a large number of dealers jump in to push their products even when it is quite obvious that is not the kind of product they want (eg in a completely different price range to one they are looking at) and its definately getting worse. Now they pretty much all advertise across the top or along side of this forum so this blatent pushing seems a bit pointless.

Mind you at times its not just dealers who seem to like to push there own personal prejudices

Having said that if the thread has been removed I would ask who ever did so to explain the reason as it does seem to smack of censorship ?

I think I could make an educated guess as to why the thread seems to have vanished but I'll wait to see if either of the protagonists or the moderators speak up.

Well I can think of a few perfectly valid reasons for it removal it just would be nice to know rather than for even more rumours to spread.

personal prejudices Garry? I like to hope we are allowed to discuss what we want and like, as long as its based on our personal interst. For sure there are bikes that I would never dream of owning but I think I can argue the reasons for this....and feel nothing wrong with voicing opinion to the silent majority. after all there are probably more lurkers then active members. They may need help identifing the BS

I have absolutely no problem with anyone offering their opinion, its just that at times some people seem to forget it is just that a opinion.

NOTE: This and my original post was not intended to be aimed at any one person. I freely admit even I have have forgot this at times.

If the thread has been removed due to pressure from a trade member, that is a shame. Well it's more than a shame, it's actually quite disgusting. We have seen this happen too many times in the past. Trade members come on here, wading into threads and pushing their products, often with a very tenuous link to the subject matter. As soon as things don't go their way, instead of being open, honest and up front, they covertly work away in the background, hidden from view, manipulating what we are allowed to read.

I'm afraid that this is a course of action that I object to. People come on here looking for advice and to form an opinion. Most of that advice and the information needed to form an opinion comes from other people's experiences. Members post a huge amount of information on here for the benefit of others, and some of the posts must take a considerable amount of time to construct. This site seems to be allowing itself to be manipulated by those with a commercial interest and reacts by deleting member's posts.

If you had strayed onto this site looking for information regarding the Haibike models, wouldn't you want to have read the thread that has now been deleted and made your own mind up?

I really don't like what's going on here. It's a bad day for the Pedelecs site.

as long as Ton keeps us abreast of the facts and gets sorted is the main thing. And Garry if personal prejudice stops people listening to common sense not much can be done about that

Tillson: there has been enough negative stuff before regards a certain arrogent dealer, so I would not be to worried regards evidence....

Not a bad day a bad year

Being a newbee I am quite surprised at this, this a public forum for people to discuss their own opinions and experiences, or so I thought?

No need to get too excited just yet. Maybe now that Ton and James have made up, they both agreed to remove the thread, so made a request to admin. I don't see Ton complaining here. Like I said before, I think the problem is more about two people in conflict rather than a broken bike that can't be fixed, but, having said that, we don't know how/why the bike broke and what would happen to us if it was our bike that broke, so that's a little bit worrying.

I'm sitting on the edge of my seat, here; now they've kissed and made up...
Will 20ton sell the bike?
Will James get the frame?
Will 20ton get a new job /money /windfall and decide he wants to keep the bike after all?
Will the tealeaves come back for the chargers?
Will Obama win the ele... oh, scrub that.

The first page is still google cached, so censorship can go blow.
Problems with JUSTEBIKES?

I think this thread is fast proving that removing the original with out any explaination was a really really really bad idea.

Well, I tend to disagree, I have seen dealers on here recommend other dealer's products.

Certainly they may bring their own product to our attention, I don't have a problem with that.

If they claimed anything outrageous, the more knowledgeable members here would soon shoot them down.

Also, I am like a sponge for information, so any dealer input giving me information I did not get from their websites is welcome by me.

And of course if I don't like a member's post, I have the option of not reading it :)

Maybe I'm being nostalgic, but I disagree with this, I admit that I am now only an occasional visitor to pedelecs, but I would have to say that I find trade posts where dealers simply plug their own product to be a bit tiresome, it puts me off visiting the site which is a pity. There may sometimes be a very justifiable reason for traders doing this, but all too often this year I have felt a bit saturated by certain threads simply being an oportunity for some trade members to cheaply advertise their bikes, even when the bike just isn't really appropriate to the conversation, or isn't at all what the poster is needing. I am quite sure some on here will disagree with me, but that is just how the site has felt to me this year compared to how it felt a couple of years ago....

There's no doubt that this has happened exactly as you describe. Personally it doesn't worry me, I just scroll past the irrelevant posts in a thread and read the interesting contributions.
