Evening all, total newbie here. Have always loved bikes since I was a child and now as I approach 50 and being sat in a car all day I'm getting fatter not fitter. So now is the time to reverse this and i'm just starting to do some research. Based on personal preference, I'd like to go down the entry level hardtail e-mtb route. So I've been looking at the Cube Reaction Hybrid Performance and the Haibike HardSeven 4.

Both of those manufacturers make pretty good bikes. The Bosch system works very well and has mostly good reliability, but if anything does go wrong after warranty it is likely to be a pretty hefty repair bill (and maybe slow to get fixed as well)

It's worth considering a non-electric bike. You may struggle a bit for a few weeks, but if you keep with it you'll get fitter quicker, and may enjoy it more. Just a suggestion: I don't want to put you off ebike and know very little about what you want/like/need.
