June 7, 20169 yr anyone interested in an Ebike meet up in Brighton July 25th - lee-wave..... I would be interested in meeting up in Brighton on the 25th. July. where were you thinking of meeting. Mike Barnard
June 7, 20169 yr Author I was thinking maybe Madeira Drive then go east along the undercliff walk - are cycles permitted there ? - stop somewhere for a refreshment. This idea is a follow on from a meet I had with NealH and Chris Comber near Box Hill some years ago - it was very pleasant afternoon.......
June 7, 20169 yr Hi Keith good to see you posting, I recently rode that route to Newhaven harbour so bikes allowed on the under cliff path but rates among the dullest/boring part of a ride I have ever under taken on a par with the old railway track routes. Apart from the white chalk faces and the E.Channel there is nothing else to view but a group ride would make the ride less dull. If I can do a shift change then I would come along to meet other pedelec members as well as your good self again, at least it would be a bit quieter on a week day and a café or two to stop at.
June 24, 20169 yr anyone interested in an Ebike meet up in Brighton July 25th - lee-wave..... IS THIS RIDE STILL GOING AHEAD
June 28, 20169 yr anyone interested in an Ebike meet up in Brighton July 25th - lee-wave..... Yes, if I can make it!!
July 1, 20169 yr Yes, if I can make it!! If you did not want to do Brighton how about part of the SOUTH DOWNS LINK. Could join it anywhere between Guildford and Shoreham
July 1, 20169 yr If you did not want to do Brighton how about part of the SOUTH DOWNS LINK. Could join it anywhere between Guildford and Shoreham The DL link in most places is bike friendly but the section from near Wickam FM near its end north of the downs is rough and flinty and not very good for any thing other then mtb tyres.
July 1, 20169 yr ah, that wouldn't be any good for my bike then... I need to turn my mtb into an ebike at some point. I'm going to try and go to Dorking for the Prudential Ride London event later this month. To watch obviously
July 12, 20169 yr anyone interested in an Ebike meet up in Brighton July 25th - lee-wave..... Keith you have gone quiet. Is this still on the cards for a cycle meet up, have you a time in mind ? Where abouts on Madeira Drive some where by the junction near Old Steine.
July 12, 20169 yr FYI the Dorking bike event is in the next couple of weeks. 31st July, its a ride London event. Acess to Dorking will be very very limited for vehicular access, Many roads will be closed inc A25 and A24 in places.
July 14, 20169 yr Trains may be busy in to Dorking area that day, roads around the area that are open will be chocka for getting about and parking, best bet is to cycle in.
July 14, 20169 yr I think I might take a chance anyway. I better check with my wife Gem that I'm free that day...
July 21, 20169 yr Author Sorry guys I got this all wrong - I still work full time so cannot do a Monday- can we postpone to some weekend in August. I would use the opportunity to catch up with my son who lives there - his band is The Island Club, check it out they are pretty good... Keith
July 24, 20169 yr This is a real shame as the weather is looking lovely. Madeira Drive sounds great. Is anybody still up for it? a little recce ahead of August anyone?
July 24, 20169 yr Having swapped my shift to have the day free. I'm not wasting it so will ride on the downs, now I have replaced the bbs controller.
July 24, 20169 yr Author Sorry about that Neal - I must have looked at the June calender - the 25th being a Sat...early signs of dementia....coincidently today my main battery has just died. I will probably bite the bullet and get a 19 amp from cyclezee..
July 25, 20169 yr South Downs wise, may I suggest Devil's dyke? Nice run from there to river Adur? Or it that a bit passe? Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
July 25, 20169 yr Will probably head straight down the 23 to Pye and do all points as I go cross country Eastwards for a change.
July 25, 20169 yr Sounds good Nealh. I'm going to have to stay a little more local. I will be at the top by Devils Dyke pub for about 10.30. I will head east towards Pycombe but then head south to Stamner (great tea room). In case you should drift across that way it would be nice to meet up for a tea en route.
July 25, 20169 yr http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160725/4d21cc5d1b80ff563e9f513ea9755bb7.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160725/fe0691fdcdd79b6b751d6ada7f4dfe53.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160725/c384ba555a6154eb31941d2f95f201dc.jpg Didn't get time to change the chain, cassette or front pads, too nice so went straight out albeit later than planned. Slightly late up to Devil's dyke, I arrived at eleven to find a number of paragliders preparing for launch. Set off east around the south side of the big bowl and made my way round to the far side of Pycombe golf course. They are some killer hills before reaching the golf course, but of course the motor made light work of my accents as I scampered up close to 15mph Loves that! Headed down an unfamiliar path that became ever more overgrown as I went. Suffice to say my ankles got it from the stingers, ouch! Worth the discomfort for the views I reached over looking Brighton with the i360 at half mast visible on the horizon. Back down into Brighton through a few of the parks drenched with sun bathing bodies, finishing with a lovely quiche salad in one of the cafes. Front 20mm axle keeps coming loose upsetting the front disc alignment, so need to look at that. Barely saw a sole all morn. All in all a top morning ride. 26 miles covered, 423 Wh consumed. Nice! Happy riding people. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
