I bought this bike (Izip Ezgo)from e.bay 2yrs ago for £250,it does the job well for what i want, but i would like it to be a bit lighter.Would changing to a lighter type of battery plus charger and controller be worth the cost compared to a new bike.
Thanks.

Been looking at re-celling both types of Izip boxes and its a bit of a problem.

10 AH Headways will go in, just. 12 AH might go in if you move the power socket to the top

How much does the battery and controller weigh? Controllers generally don't take much weight up it's the battery and motor which adds the most weight. A 10Ah 36V Li-Ion battery will weighs about 2.3kg. And a 250W 36V motor weighs about 3kg.

I see looking at the spec of your bike it's using the older lead acid battery which is gonna be heavy so you could probably save some weight there and get more power at the same time by moving to Li-Ion or LiFePo4. The total weight of your bike is 24kg which is indeed a bit on the heavy side for a folding bike with 20"? wheels. My 26" MTB weighs only 20kg with 36v 10Ah battery.

I would weigh your battery to see if it's worthwhile and perhaps weigh the bike without the battery if you can, it may just be a heavy bike.
