I've been very bad.

Went to look at some Vespa scooters yesterday to see if my feet could touch the ground when sat on it, and if I could handle the weight. The GTS was very comfortable and spacious, and balanced well. Good looking machine too. I could imagine myself riding all over the UK on one.

I want it!

And why not, I've been driving my 4 x 4 in the current snow and ice conditions, and that's an indictable offence in environmentalist's eyes!

Yours is a minor crime in comparison. ;)

The clue is in the term "environmentalist" just simply remove the first 7 letters. :D

These scooters seem a lot quieter and less emissions than the ones I saw back in Italy. Was actually irritating having to walk down narrow lanes with these smelly noisy scooters blasting past every 20 seconds.

My main concern of getting it is becoming a tax paying motorist, an excuse to rip me off in every single way, and the police would probably look for the slightest thing to fine me. And the insurance companies are there to rip me off too if the first two fail!

Agree - a lovely bike. I had a test ride but decided on a Piaggio Hexagon 180 because of the huge boot. I could be tempted though!

I was attracted to those maxi-scooters for a while. Like the Burgman 125 and the S-wing. They look comfortable for longer distances with passengers and have larger storage under the seat. But they do seem rather big. The GTS doesn't have enough space for a full helmet under the seat, but that doesn't bother me too much. I'd get the rack on the back, and if that isn't enough, one for the front as well!

I originally wanted the PX125, but that was discontinued for a while and I got the ebike instead, got too used to twist and go to ever ride a manual now, plus the 125 GTS has enough power to do the full motorcycle test on.

They are quiet now, the water cooling makes a lot of difference. Those Italian ones probably had the silencer hacked or replaced with straight-throughs to make them noisier.

I don't think you need worry about costs, tax is very low, where there's parking charges they are also a fraction of car ones, and insurance for mature experienced riders is reasonable, especially with full no claim bonus.

The police are a lot less hassle now they have better on-board technology, they know your status from your number plate and don't waste time tackling innocents when there's so many unlicenced and uninsured people on the roads who can earn them brownie points when nicked.

I've got a Burgman 400, and it's great. 80mpg is achievable, £120 a year to insure, £35 RFL. Enough storage space under tyhe seat for two helmets plus jackets, and it'll pull 100mph (off-road obviously).
