Is this a dumb-ass idea?

I'm in a tinkering mood, so fancy converting my AC mains powered lawnmower into a battery powered one. I have a spare 48v 11.6Ah battery that I can use, but I'm wondering if I could use the following DC/AC inverter to make the conversion.

4000W DC 12/24/48V To AC 220V Car Solar Power Inverter Sine Wave Converter LED

Dumb-ass idea or potentially possible?
Most ac lawnmowers are circa 2.5kw (and run flat out all the time) which I suspect would exhaust the battery quickly. This is taking the idea a further step: when I converted my pool to solar I thought about powering the old ac pump via an inverter until I discovered many yanks have done it before and simply replace the motor with an efficient relatively cheap brushless dc one that runs straight of the solar panels when one need filtering most (ie daytime). How about finding a fubar pedelec and transferring its motor to the lawnmower as well?
