Yes just asked my home insurer, the AA who has to-date always been obliging, to add a £2000 Raleigh Motus to my householder insurance for out and about theft/loss/ damage [not third party] but it seems, the broker who the sales team member consulted has 'refused' on the grounds 'it's electric'. I was astonished and have allowed this to go forward as 'a complaint'.
n.b never claimed for a stolen bike ever.
My friendly retailer has suggested 'cycle guard' company [they had a leaflet in the shop] and i haven't looked yet; what are other forum members doing? And i might add when i said to the woman perhaps it'd be best if i hadn't rang you, said ' in the event we would not have covered you'!
Wow, food for thought.

for cycle insurance, you could start here..

http://www.money.co.uk/bicycle-insurance/electric-bicycle-insurance.htm

What i have found is that a lot of quote systems give a price based on the value alone, adding your postcode and usage afterwards makes no difference - so low risk areas paying same / supporting high risk areas ?

Lexham seems the cheapest from a quick check, but as with everything insurance read the small print !

Just had the same problem with Saga or, to be more accurate, their underwriters. :(. As far as I could gather they were happy to include cover for my new bike on my household policy but balked at the replacement value.
