This is actually, fully, bat ** crazy

8kw motors ? 55v ? 700a ? Can this be posible in such a tiny device ?

Can even latest lipo nanotech batteries deliver this ?

And if they could would you want such a bomb strapped to your chest whilst surfing on WATER !

700a ?! sorry but I just cant get past this - surely your battery would last for mere seconds even if this is right

Any engineers out there shed a little light ?

If this is possible and safe (ish) then it seems amazing

thanks
K

it did go for 5 minutes - may be 2-3 miles. Yes, it's possible because the motors have very high RPM, may be as much as 600-1000 RPM. Biggest problem is half of the energy is converted into noise.

Well, let's see.

3 of these packs in series gives one 55.5v 5ah pack with a peak discharge rate of 780amps - so yes. However, double the packs and you get a 55.5v 10ah pack with 1460amps peak discharge rate. They wouldn't last very long at those type of discharge rates, that's why the 10kw guys on ES are running 100v 30ah packs for the meaty stuff.

Thanks both - interesting stuff

I still think it's crazy to strap that much lipo being used under extreme conditions to your chest and jump on the water

"half the energy is converted into noise", are they really that inefficient? Explains running for only 5mins and then a bumpy/wet landing. But then a 'thruster' is only meant for occasional use :). Esp liked the "bite control", panic, bite harder, crash harder! ouch.
