So that'd be 15% VAT + 4.7% Import = 19.7%?According to the EU customs website, it's 4.7% for lithium battery packs (with less than 32 cells) from China
But bear in mind that normal lithium-iron life potential is certainly over 1000 charges and more likely to be 2000 charges or more. That's four times the best length of life for li-ion, so looked at another way, the Ping price is as low as a quarter. So that'd be 15% VAT + 4.7% Import = 19.7%?
Hmmm 36V10AH ping is approx £220 + 19.7% = £263
hmmmm
Hmm so short term pain versus long term gain.... (I work in the City we're not interested in the long term )But bear in mind that normal lithium-iron life potential is certainly over 1000 charges and more likely to be 2000 charges or more. Nobody knows for certain yet just how long these batteries last, but lab tests indicate even 5000 charges are possible.
.
think you would be extremely unlucky to attract duty or VAT, had a couple of batts from Li Ping and both arrived without interference. One more question folks...

I have read about several members of the German Pedelec forum who have had to pay quite a lot more on top of their battery purchases from China... question of (bad) luck I guess.I've purchased two LiFePO4 batteries from Li Ping earlier this year. No extra duties were applied by Customs and excise on both occasions.
Ping usually marks them as "samples" or something similar. Small consignments rarely attract any interest. The situation is a lot different with purchases from the USA, almost always attracting import duties.
