This model seems to tick all the boxes, but I wondered if you knew of any similar trikes please so I have comparions....

Electric Bicycles - Vector (Trike) £849

Thanks in advance
Tara

p.s
I don't want to pay anymore than £900 - cheaper would be great!
What happened to your £550 budget? .... At £900 pounds you have so much more to choose from! ...

Hi Kitchenman

I would love to spend under £500, but after careful consideration, I know a trike rather than bike is for me, and maybe it's because there aren't as many around, but they seem to be dearer than 'bikes'

Moan alert
I have messaged a few sellers on ebay of used bikes and trikes, but getting helpful responses back is nigh on impossible!
No one seems to know the model name of their bikes, so you can't 'Google' them, and like someone else has mentioned, they are all 'barely used' :p

One seller can't grasp: "Hello, can I view the bike before bidding please?" - I received this response: "sorry I don't understand what you mean" :(

Only one seller hasn't dodged my few questions so far - I think the bikes I've enquired about have been duffers, so maybe it's better for the sellers to ignore questions

Anyhow, unless I find a local trike that I can view first (chances are nil) I'm going to give ebay the elbow and buy new.

Moan over :p

I would try and buy new. A number of members have bought ebikes from them. Here is one review:

http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bike-reviews/7447-alien-aurora.html

It's not happening Kitchenman :(

I mailed to ask when more bikes would be available, as the webpage states: "If you want one, please be quick as a new batch will be around fourteen weeks"

The reply was short and not sweet.......

"Sorry, we don’t have any and don’t have any plans to get more in"

(Why have an item on your website if it doesn't exist? -I note since my query, the Photobucket slideshow of the bike has been removed - some wording needs to go too)

Back to the drawing board for me then - I doubt I'll find a 'non recumbent' trike that tilts though.

Thats is disappointing! ... What you need now is one of the dealers to ride in on a white horse. If Mark at UM can get a stringray and electrify just for fun then surely someone can get a trike and do the same for you and charge you £900. ..... perhaps there is a stringray trike? ... ....
btw ... have you actually tried a trike? I mean, any trike? ... Evans do them ...

Hi again ;)

Thanks for the links :)
I've mailed the folks at Bikes Direct to see when their under £1000 trikes are back in stock - currently all sold out.

I like the other company too that offers the 30 day bike trial, but as you've said, they don't stock leccy versions.

I plan to sit down tonight and research sellers that are hopefully more local to me (Devon) - I have tried a trike before, but was impressed with the tilting type more so than the standard ones for stability reasons (not that I'll be tearing up the roads on me 3 wheels!)

Greetings Tara,

SteveW of this forum has put his trike for sale here and in an add on Velovision forum classifieds for £700. There has been no response as far as I can see up to 1/08/20011 so it could be worth while contacting him with an offer.

This is a British made trike with a Cyclone motor that drives through the gears so it has considerable unassisted hill climbing capability.
This can be seen on a similar Pashley Tr1 with a similar motor on one of Mrmotorvator's videos " No 5, The Beast of Park Street" and No 8, all his videos are interesting.

Many thanks!

I've posted a message to Steve to see if the bike is still available :)

I think I recall that ezee do a trike with 2 rear wheels but it will probably be above your budget - save for a bit longer?

So that's a tilting trike

Parker: Thanks a lot for that picture. I now understand what this thread is about.

The thread's title had puzzled me since I stupidly assumed that it meant something about jousting on bikes.

My erroneous assumption was further reinforced when in a skim read of the thread I noted kitchenman speaking of a white horse:
What you need now is one of the dealers to ride in on a white horse.
So, Tara, as physicist I can now suggest the obvious: if you can't get a tilting machine - just slow for the corners, or lean out as one used to see the crewman do in motorbike + side car races.

Hi Just seen this on Ebay says NEW buy now £499

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

Huge basket on rear looks like dog cage

Frank
Hi Frank and thanks :)

I asked the seller of that bike some questions a few days ago, and there's been no reply. It seems to be a common reaction when you ask about the batteries :p

I've decided to steer clear of used bikes on ebay, unless I can feel quite sure about the honesty of the seller.
The last thing I want is to have to shell out straightaway for a new battery. As most sellers want 'cash on collection' it's impossible to win an INR case afterwards if there are problems with the bike early on.
