So, the cycle infrastructure suffers for an up front capital saving ignoring the ongoing projected benefits - typical. It amazes me how these benefit per pound figures appear. Worked out by consultants (costing a fortune) then totally ignored on some political expediency or other. Then, when the inevitable cost and time over runs come in, everybody runs around looking for someone to blame and we have various enquiries - also costing a fortune. Cross rail is a brilliant example, how much nationwide cycling infrastructure could that have paid for?
No wonder people (me) get pissed of with the amount of tax paid when malinvestment and jobs for the boys is the result.
