Hi all,

I've soldered mt60 connectors onto my controller and now I'd like to test them before connecting to the bike. I have a multimeter and would be grateful if someone could walk me through testing the phase wires please?

Also, first time solderer, so advice on how they look would be appreciated. Should I replace the green tubes for a tighter fit with marine grade heat shrink?

Pics attached.

Thanks.

The pvc shrouds aren't needed they should have been dispensed with and a tri- way insulator shroud as on the other side should have been used. The MT's are supplied with one for each side so heat shrink isn't required.

As for testing there is nothing to test unless you think the controller has a fault.
All you have done is replace bullets that can overheat with a three way one piece MT connector, as long as the wiring is separated by the rear shroud and when connected matches colour to colour then it is much the same as before except with a better heat resistant connection.

Yes, I just want to make sure the controller works as two wires touched during installation. The end cap is already on there. Ok, I'll remove the pvc shrouds, thanks.

As long as there was no battery power then two wires touching should be fine, but to be sure which wires touched with what ?

Ah ok. Battery power wasn't connected. I had to unsolder them to put the end cap on. All 3 wires were tinned and I think it was blue and green wires that touched, but can't quite remember, so would like to check controller before reinstalling.

The phase lines need power to short out and then the mosfets may suffer failure.
You won't have caused an issue but if you want piece of mind for the sake of it follow the guide below for testing.
