How To Mount A Junstar Headlight Onto Handlebars Cheaply (Bafang BBS01b)

This might be useful to someone

On lit roads, a headlamp is make you more noticable to drivers. Offroad, it's to actually light your way... but the Junstar headlight doesn't come with a handlebar bracket - so I made one out of the two brackets supplied with totally useless but cheap rearview mirrors - a wobbly light gets a cyclist noticed more (it's too stable when mounted to the frame), when it's on the handlebar, you can easily angle it down for offroad, light up road signs etc. I used a 3mm thick nylon strap I had lying around for cushioning. The brackets are aluminium, bolts and nuts are brass, but sadly the washers aren't:

Here are utterly useless rear view mirrors, which only show you your shoulder, but the brackets are very sturdy - £3.80 sold by amazon:

All of the rear view mirrors I've tried are completely rubbish! I might connect a backward facing webcam to the seatpost, to view the road behind on a handlebar USB connected phone, like this:

There's no chance of getting a Logitech webcam, with all of the people working from home, they'r as rare as dragon's teeth at the moment... If I place the phone centrally and use a cheap wide angle webcam, it'd be a quick glance down to see the panto guy.

Attaching the lamp to the handbars has advantages. I mounted it on the bolt hole on the fork initially, but on my bike - the brake and gear wires obscure it somewhat. They have to be that way, to enable the bike to fold:







...and on my 23.4 mile ride through country roads at night yesterday, it would have been handy to be able to change the beam angle while riding, to illuminate signs set at different heights. Also, it's quick and easy while riding to angle the beam horizontally at specific drivers who haven't seen me - by turning the handlebars momentarily towards them, and/or pushing up/down the lamp on a vertical axisif needed. It's more at driver eye level on the handlebar, as opposed to disappearing just as you're about to tumble over the car bonnet. On lit roads, I want it angled at drivers, on dark roads I want it to actually light my way... and I don't want to stop and adjust it's angle because it's situated on the forks. There's a second light next to it, is a basic 18650 powered torch which I keep on flashing mode for added visibility. For me at least, the Junstar lamp connected to the ebike battery is better mounted on the handlebar. I've got three lights on the back - a bright Junstar rear ebike battery connected light, a small flashing 2XAAA powered light, and a GPS tracking light with an internal battery, so I can track down and retrieve my bike from thieves, and be notified by text if it's moved abruptly when chained up, or being moved by car/van and it's speed & location:

The GPS tracker light could be powered by the USB slot on the C18 display, via a long USB cable - it can be charged by the display in a pinch. I've gone a bit overboard with lights! It's better than being overlooked and squashed... and then overlooked some more by morticians.
