January 31, 201511 yr Silly question, but how do I install the thumb throttle on a BBS01? In particular the three-pronged insert which doesn't seem to mate with the three-pronged piece already in the throttle. The prongs mesh fine, but there seems to be no way of the insert clipping in because the diameter of the ring is exactly the same as the diameter of the end of the prongs already in the throttle. Is it not supposed to clip in at all, and just sit there as a spacer? I'll try and upload a photo to show what I mean. Michael
January 31, 201511 yr Author Here's the insert next to the throttle itself. The prongs mesh fine as I say, but it won't sit inside the throttle.
January 31, 201511 yr That thing with three prongs is just a spacer to stop the rotating part of your throttle rubbing on the brake, grip or whatever. You just put in place and slide the whole lot onto the handlebars. You don't need that spacer if the throttle isn't hard up against anything.

January 31, 201511 yr don't worry, it's a non contact magnetic system, it's not entirely waterproof but certainly splash-proof. The electronics is inside the torus, the cable exit point is sealed. The damage is usually caused by salt in the humidity.
January 31, 201511 yr There's only the spring in the main part where the water can get in. The sensor is tucked up in the corner where the cable comes out. If you want to use it in heavy rain or leave it out in the rain, you should pull the two halves apart, remove the cover over the wire and cover the wires in silicone sealant where they're joined on yo the sensor. You'll never get a problem with water then.
January 31, 201511 yr I also had wondered why the three pronged spacer thingy wouldn't fully insert to the throttle. (looks the same as the one supplied with the oxydrive kit). Incidentally, I have found that if you over tighten the Allen bolt on the throttle clasp the throttle lever sticks in position. It's a fine line between working throttle and a sticky one when just tight enough not to slide up the handlebar.
