How to do bike concept/prototype testing?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have an idea about having a full suspension compact cargo bike able to carry load of battery. The concept is as follow:

Concept 1:

Concept 2:

Get a bike rack welded to the main frame and suspended on the back. Similar to tesla structure to hold battery, the rack/frame would also hold a large set of 18650 cells as part of its structure.

It would make it as a massive cargo bike able to carry most things (usual bike rack are too small) as well as passengers.

How would I be able to test that out? I wonder if cardboard would be useful enough? I need to check if I can pedal, how it handle load, etc.

You'll need something a tad sturdier than cardboard in your monocoque concept.

cwah I have been following with interest your threads here and on ES. If I understand correctly you want a tiny when folded bike to stock in your apartment and with large carrying capacity including passenger. Great! No problem so far. Then it has to be able to blast of the line at green light up to over 70 kph. I can see some complications here... What you are describing is an electric motorbike but one which shrinks to a tiny package so that it can be put away safely at night.

My thoughts:

- forget the blistering speed which in turn reduces space needed for batteries etc. etc etc

- find a garage near where you live and buy a scooter/motorbike

- forget the passenger and get one of these http://www.hpvelotechnik.com/produkte/gekkofx/index_e.html add your 1Kw motor and a trailer for all the stuff you have to move around

Need suspension john. And frame doesn't seem very strong.
