Annoyingly I had the chance to catch someone falling off at the end of this clip, but didn't realise that the lens was covered in mud, plus I turned away at the crucial moment!. The quality of light was also really crap, which also hasn't done any favours to the clip.

I entered the first part of this puddle, and the water went straight up to almost crank level, and had to dart across to the right to avoid floating wood, and onto what should have been safety on the side of the bank. The guy on the bike in front, slipped and come to a stop, and I nearly rammed him. He panicked, cycled forwards and tumbled sideways into the water, right up to his knees. He had done me a favour, as that would have been game over for me, with one submerged motor/battery pack. I must admit that no one could stop laughing at the poor guy. :D

I finally managed to get a clip of the bike climbing easily past a few riders today, which I'll try to upload later.

To be fair, you did well missing it. I was absolutely plastered, and soaked right through to the pants.

Here is the clip to show the natural habitat of an e-mtb. Climbing.

This was just a steady climb of an incline that was much steeper than it looks. Climbed just using eco and tour. Nice and relaxed. :)

Good video soundwave ,I really enjoyed watching your ride through the roads, paths etc because it made it far from being boring.
Personally, I also love to hear the motor working when accelerating and de-accelerating when going through its paces and not being drowned out by the sound of pop/rock/classical/funk/line barn dance/punk/boyzone/drum and bass/hip hop and not last new age music.
Please continue to keep it nice and basic well done.

Nice climbing Eddie, looked very steep with most people walking up!

I ride a Haibike sDuro HardSeven SL 2015 Yamaha and have covered 1600 miles since march 2015. I commute about 23 miles return trip to work with 13 or so of them off road. I have had remarkably few issues with my bike however with the advent of wetter weather I have suddenly become afflicted by the dreadful Chain Suck phenomenon. This is where your pedalling comes to an abrupt jamming halt. usually while you are pushing hard on the pedals climbing a hill! Just where you want to stop! I am no mechanic and did not know what causes it. I asked a friend who said it happened when the chain does not release from the front sprocket where the teeth have become slightly hooked with wear and the chain gets pulled around and jams. He suggested changing the transmission with a new front sprocket, cassette and chain. I was about to do this but had wanted to keep my old transmission on the bike during winter and put a new one on in the spring being a bit of a skin flint. I googled chain suck and found chain suck in a nutshell. There I found a way of getting rid of chain suck by filing. well I thought if I am going to have to replace it anyway I might as well give it a go. I turned my bike up side down, lifted the chain of the front sprocket and had a look. Sure enough I found a few hooked teeth. I carefully filed every tooth just enough to remove the hooking. I then took it out for a muddy ride and to my surprise I had cured my chain suck! There was no chain slippage and it all worked as it should do. Now I am sure I will need a new transmission in the not too distant future but I have to say it has completely cured the problem.

I agree with soundwave, for that money it's not worth the hassle [emoji106]

I finally got some time to myself after work today, finished early and went into the woods, by myself [emoji15] and took the standard "bike against tree" photo..

Hi,

Just interested to know how many of us are using our e-bikes off road, and if so, What bike spec are you running?

I'm currently running a GT aggressor with a BMS 500w rear wheel with a centrally mounted ( wedged in the central triangle!) 36v 20ah battery. I can honestly say I am really pleased with the set-up, It maxs about 24 mph and drives fairly easily up the steepest of hills. Aside from the somewhat agricultural installation by yours truely, I couldn't be happier.
I would like to in the future look to build a D8veh Kracken full suspension bike at some point when funds allow.

Look forward to hearing about everyone's kit!
Well I am at 71 with a new Knee which doesn't bend so good now. So had to have cranks shortened and, as I had already an old Powerbyke, decided to electrify my Giant FX3 ...the 2009 full suspension one which was sold online at half the £700 RPM price by Pauls Cycles. No such bargains now though.I fitted a 350W Bafang rear wheel motor with a cassette gear and disk brake capability. Only 24 speed gears and cable disk brakes and weighs around 23kgs but it is a test bed after all.
With that and the rear carrier Lipol battery that was a second £350 gone.Still a long way short of a Haibike! The Battery, 4.5kgs, is mounted on a seat post rack, with the rack section removed and just the beam left.Into this I screwed the alloy base plate for the battery. DSCF2257.JPG . Happy with the performance and lasts about 2 good uphill trails before giving up. It is early days yet and the battery should improve for the first few charges. I noticed that on the tarmac it will not roll as freely as the old Powerbyke which I put down to the knobbly tyres which make a near Landrover noise! Do I really need such grippy stuff on Highland trails?

Unlike the seemingly pandemic use of cable ties to hold FS Haibike's together, that is just one opinion.

I'd say it is more a case of this with KTM. :)

How about some more dirty pictures of the two wheeled kind. :)

Sorry to put a slight damper on your nicely put together bike,
I used the same method of mounting my battery on my suspension bike and a couple of months of use saw the frame cracked at the weld on the seat tube just above the top tube.
This was in spite of using an extra long seat post which went well down into the seat tube.
I mostly cycle off road on some pretty bumpy tracks and I'm no lightweight so maybe you will fare better then I did.
There is a post on here somewhere showing a rack mount which fixes to the seat stays on a suspension bike, not cheap but may save your lovely bike!
You aren't far from me so are welcome to call and see the damage if you wish, my kit is now on a hard tail and I managed to salvage the bouncer by bolting the seat post in permanently.
Dave.

Did you watch any of my video on Blubberhouses Moor, plenty of action including at least 10 "offs" and a great faceplant at around 2 mins in.

Sorry no, I'll have to scroll back to take a look. Thanks. :)

I'm off for a late afternoon/night ride on the South Downs Tomorrow after work. Should prove interesting, as I've not ridden on them at night, and I suspect that the routes are going to look very different and confusing. All good stuff. :)

Bit of a discrepancy with tonight's ride. I made it 47 miles, which corresponds to battery usage, but it is only indicated as 32 miles. Strange.

It lashed it down with rain after about the first 25 miles, and the wind had the bike leaning, whilst I struggled to keep it up right. I'd forgotten just how noisy that the wind is up on the South Downs.
Whilst I ride fairly frequently on the Downs, I rode some new to me sections, and coming back in the dark was damn near impossible to find my way. One of my pet hates of riding the Downs is the amount of opening and closing of field gates. I was very glad to keep coming across them tonight. I wouldn't have had a clue where I was otherwise.

The wind was too strong to hold the camera steady.

Which section did you ride, was it the Alfriston area ? What were the ground conditions like with the recent rain, I can se the KTM is muddy but other wise looks quite reasonable not caked. Once I'm happy with the Mtrax GSM I plan on some winter downs riding.
