Anyone wishing to "dip a toe in the water" with regard to electric-assist bikes could do worse than the attached. These bikes have been sold cheaply in the past although I think they are a little more expensive now.

The story with this particular bike sounds credible so at £400, it seems like a cheap introduction to the world of ebiking, particularly if you live near the charming village of Manchester which, I'm given to understand, lies roughly mid-way between the major trading cities of London and Stockholm.

These are OK. I got one off eBay a bit back for about £300 for my wife - she hammered it around rough tracks in Croatia for 2 weeks this summer and it still works!

Not the best quality bits, but does the job and are a good intro, I reckon.

The price in your link is not a 'Buy it Now' price, it is a starting bid.

It may well go for £400 for all I know, but the list price for this bike is £599.

The cheapest eBike I've seen anywhere is the 20" folder on Tesco Direct for £399.

I remember when I first came to this forum the Cyclamatic caused quite a bit of interest and excitement as Sports HQ used to run these weekend promo offers and they would discount the £399 (already very cheap) price by 10-15% with discount codes and they were offering 10% cashback too on Topcashback so you could get 20-25% off! Once they realised the bikes were good and kept selling without many probs, they obviously put the price up and started making more profits! Unless the manufacturing cost increased..which seems unlikely :)
