Hi people,
I am English, originally from London but now live in southern Spain, mainly for health reasons but having lived here for over eight years, my wife and I have grown to love the rugged grandeur of the country, the mostly decent weather (we don´t get snow at all) and the people.
The biggest plus is, there are very few gradients, certainly no hills.
Unfortunately, I have a chest complaint that necessitates the electric assist.
I have a Giant beach bike fitted with a Crystalyte rear wheel motor, with Hall sensors.
Had the bike for a few years now. Originally, it was fitted with a LiFePO4 chinese battery, the size and weight of a lorry, it seemed!! However, it died after one month, so I went with four SLA batteries, which were good but so heavy @ 40lbs!!
I currently have a new LiFePO4 48 volt, 12 amp. battery, fitted into a small Crystalyte soft zip pack, that weighs 10 lbs. Shangrila!! Technology has moved on!!
I am in the process of fitting a Stand alone Cycle Analyser unit, that requires a shunt (supplied) but need to solder the connectors of an Anderson plug to fit between the battery and the controller, so need to sharpen my skills in that area.
If all this sound like I am a guru, forget it!! I have learned what I´ve learned, the hard way, believe me!!
Anyway, it´s good to be a member of the Forum and look forward to relating experiences, good and bad.
