Hi there! Looking for key cutting advice

Hi all, I stumbled on this forum as while back and it's been my 'go-to' for most things. However I'm struggling to find information regarding this problem so am posting for the first time.

I have an Ebco UCL30 with a Tranzx 36v pannier battery. Unfortunately I lost my only key ages ago and now the battery has failed I need to remove it so I can have it re-celled. I've got the key number but have no idea what the key/lock type is. I had an abus T82 cut to code on advice but it wasn't the right type.
I've emailed Ebco and Tranzx but have received no reply, I assume because of the virus interruption. I want to avoid drilling the lock out if I can help it so does anyone know what type of lock tranzx use or any other possible solutions to this problem?

Not that kind of bike/battery, but someone recently posted that they had unscrewed the battery case and got at the lock from the inside. I don't know if that is at all feasible for you, but worth a look.

This is the correct match both visually and technical profile for my own TranzX battery using a T82 Abus Amparo lock. This is also the supplier TranzX recommend:

Are you sure you have the correct key number? It should be T82-xxxx.

That's an interesting idea, I hadn't even considered it a possibility. If I can't find a more immediate and less invasive option I'll give that a go. Thanks!

Hmm. It's definitely the right number, it's with the documentation I got with the bike. The key I had cut won't insert into the lock at all. It appears too thick to slide in. I don't recall seeing the word 'amparo' when I had the key cut though. Is there a abus T82 profile that's different from an amparo T82? I assume that's unlikely.

Maybe your lock just needs a squirt of WD40 since it hasn't been used in a long while?

I bought it used and it came with a single key with no numbers stamped into it if I recall correctly. I do have documentation that includes a card with 'key number: XXXX'. The key I've had cut does have T82 stamped into it though.
It's true it's not been taken of the bike for a couple of years though so it could well need some WD40. I'll give that a go and return to declare myself a complete nugget if it works

Mmmm. There's reference to an alternative key type by AXA-Stenman (not Abus) in my Ebco owners manual. Maybe your key/lock isn't an Abus T82 type after all!

So it appears you were right. After copious quantities of WD40 and some patient wiggling of the key, it eventually went fully into the cylinder. Although it's not opening/turning. It appears fits the lock, though it kind of feels like not everything inside is freed up yet. Like some of the pins have stuck as the key was passing them and haven't sprung back. I'll keep adding a little more WD40 to see if it'll free up. It's a big step in the right direction. I'm really surprised how seized the lock was, it looked fairly clean.

The AXA site does accept the code as a CHR profile key (suitable for locks Pro Disc, Clinch, Pro Carat, Cherto Compact, Pro Moto, Pro Block & Foldable Series 1000). Although if it's like the picture it looks to be a milled key and I'm not sure that's the right type. If I can't get the abus key to work I will order one though since the image could well be wrong.
