the bike I have I found in a skip but had no battery, after a few months the owner of the bike agreed to sell me the battey! I then put the fully charged battery on the bike and . .nothing! when its switched on you can feel vibration going thru the bike but as soon as you touch the throttle it all stops! any ideas anyone?

It sounds like a blown FET in the controller. You have to measure the resistance between the red battery wire (on the controller) and each of the main motor wires with the controller disconnected, then again to the black battery wire. 6 results needed.

Ask the original owner why he chucked the bike and what symptoms he experienced before chucking it.
It sounds like the battery is not supplying enough current, which is why it goes dead when you max the throttle.
I am no expert and this is only one possibility.

Edit: d8veh has suggested another possibility whilst I was writing. I'm sure with some basic fault finding, you'll get there in the end ;)
