Hi all,

I’m a mature ebike newbie Looking for advice on getting my first assisted bike.

Unfortunately, I’ve had to have a total ankle replacement so things aren’t as straight forward as they might be.

I’ll have a mooch around the forum and post in the appropriate section soon.

Cheers.

You have South Yorkshire Electric Bicycles in Rotherham. They're very good. Check out the Oxygen S-cross bikes there.

I grew up in rotherham and now live just over the border in sheffield. Theres some lovely places to ride around in S.Yorks.

Best advice on the ebike is to go have a few rides and see what suits you. Work out what you intend to do with it, off road trails or on road riding or a mix.

Im pretty sure, as in i know for sure as a friend has one, that the oxygen ones come with a throttle in the bag of goodies and they are derestricted in a matter of seconds via the display!! May be worth a look if your ankle means you could get fatigued quite quickly and need to get home.

That might be a slightly older model. I'm not at all sure of my own knowledge, but I think I read recently that the throttle is no longer included in recent models, and may not be easy to add. Double-check before buying.

It may well have changed but they are still selling the same model i think but not sure of the electrical parts. My friend has one with a bafang hub drive. Couldnt see a make on the display but i think its branded oxygen.

Just bought one yesterday, delivery tomorrow and I was told that they no longer fit a throttle, suppose its all to do with keeping legal although there is walk assist.

Where did you buy it from? If it's from SYEBC (the importers), they used to put the throttle in the box of bits, but dealers always seem to take it back out for some reason.
