Just introducing myself,
I live in Dublin Ireland and about 3 km from the seafront.Altitude is 64m above sea level so I needed a bike able to climb the gradient. Just really two stretches are probably 8/10% and the rest is do-able on a good Mountain bike (VTT)
So I have an early Prima Joe-Fly front hub motor driven SLA technology. I've recently been able to buy new cells from Radionics, (hawker Cyclone aircraft style spiral wound) and the bike is buzzing along nicely now and looks good.

Now I have acquired a Mondia Cenci ebike with Panasonic energy drive centre motor. This is for my wife who likes to make the same journey, and is finding her knees a bit painful on the uphill part. This bike originated in Switzerland and has a NI-CD battery which seems fine so far.
The Mondia is more like a Kalkhoff product as regards comparison of quality and is more bike like in feel.Nice that it cuts out the motor if pedalling is light especially in 4th of it's four Shimano Nexus hub gears.
Flecc of this forum has already been most helpful to me in identifying my early Panasonic unit and advising re its characteristics.
So hopefully I will be able, with the help of the good folk of this forum to keep both going for some time.Car parking is costly here at about €6/8 a day on the seafront, something which mounts up drastically over the year, so its great to be able to avoid some of this form of tax.
Good ebiking to all!
