Paul from Belfast saying hello:D

I have been considering taking the leap for a while now and have swopped my motorcycle for a push bike. My daughter, almost 4 years old, loves going out on the bike. So i would be using the bike for family fun and commuting.

My commute is a little tricky because I live 9 miles from work at the top of a steep hill (1 mile long.) Going to work is fine, however after tough 12-14 shift the return journey soon looses its appeal.

like many folk, I am sick of paying £1.40+ for a litre of diesel and i will be glad to get rid of the 2nd car if I can get my commute licked.

I would also be delighted to hear from anyone in NI/ The North, there must be some E-bikers over here??

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul and welcome.
Have recently bought a "Tesco Hopper" e-bike to restart cycling after a break of over 40 years. Don't use it for work transport as i live two doors from my business - purely pleasure and shopping.
Have only seen one other e-bike around Belfast since i got it a few months ago. Must admit i thoroughly enjoy it and have rode nearly 200 miles.
Take the leap.

Cheers Cabo, i think i might just take the leap!

Bikes | Kettler have a 30% off sale until 30th November. They are selling the Hybritech Twin City for an amazing £1185, reduced from £1695. From what I have read thats excellent value given that it comes with Shimano 8 speed hub and the 26v Panasonic 250w central drive system.

I know that the beige unisex step-through frame won't be to everyones taste but with a one year battery warranty, 2 years on parts and 5 years on the frame, surely this must be excellent value??!! This price also includes delivery to NI at no extra charge.

The wee Tesco hopper looks smashing value too, i'll have to see if any of the stores have one that i can have a look at. The hopper is also popular with caravaners I am told.

Both those bikes look like the job. I do like the chainguard and rear carrier, which mine hasn't. I find the chain marks up trousers, so i usually wear black jog pants. I fitted a basket on the front, but if its loaded up well the steering feels a bit off - tend to use a backpack more.
Can't expect these fittings when the bike is a third of the price.
The Hopper is only available through Tesco Direct so not in store here - will deliver free to store.
I went for folding bike as i want to store on boat as well.

For the money the hopper is unbeatable. You also get the club card points too. I might also be able to get 10% off too through a family friend. Either kettler bikes are class acts, I forgot to mention the luggage rack and dynamo lights too. The only drawback I can see is that they are possibly older new stock and with most manufactures launching next generation drive systems, controllers and batteries, lots of new sparkly toys may be just around the corner?! For either way still two cracking bikes.
