Hi my name is Annie . Thank you for allowing me to join your site.
I am an elderly lady who enjoys cycling. I have T.T done a few addaxes' did JOGLE solo self supported, 3/4 days camping then 1 night at a hostel, that was 10 years ago. I enjoyed every minute of it. I would like to do the NC 500 but at present waiting for a knee replacement operation so I will see how that goes at present I ride a Carrera crossfire which I love.
I don't know where to post this but I hope it may be of use to someone.
My Carrera is 2.5 years old and has done about 700 miles. It developed a fault last week, there was no error codes on the display it went through all of the assistance modes but would only power up in walk mode. I took it back to Halfords told them the problem. Without looking at it I was informed that it was a motor problem which would cost £500. I asked if a mechanic could look at it but the assistant informed me that I would get the same reply. I took it home went through all the usually things then took the bottom bracket out. It had very slight rusting on the barrel I cleaned this with IPA let it dry re greased it then assembled it, nothing would show on the display. I took the B.B out again cleaned out the grease which I had smeared around the B.B re assembled it did a 15 mile hilly ride without any problems.
Hoping this may help someone .
stay safe.
Kind regards Annie.

Thanks. They're nice bikes when they're going, but they get too many problems. Some of the Halfords are not too bad when it comes to fixing their ebikes, but other ones are useless. There's no way in the world that the motor could have caused that problem, and £500 is a ridiculous price.

Just goes to show Halfords have no knowledge, wasn't there another user recently who posted much the same. They were told their hub motor was the cause.

I have used hubs for ten odd years and so not as long as you d8veh and have not yet had one fail me.
