Hi everyone, I've got a wisper alpino 906 which i got as a fixer upper, I've got a new 15ah battery and a controller but I have a couple of teething problems.

When setting off there is a sqeaking noise like a brake and the power drops off, if I release throttle and reapply then I can continue, once moving at a reasonable speed the problem does not occur, could this be that I haven't wired in the hall sensors or does it sound more serious.

The other problem I have is with the brake sensors, there are two wires on the controller, which if I short out then it cuts the motor power, but applying the levers (tektro) which are two wire and seem to have some sort of a magnetic switch has no effect.

Any suggestions will be appreciated,

Lift the wheel and see if it rotates freely if not look to see where the binding/rubbing is and make adjustments.
How many wires does the drive motor have ?
Brakes wise the levers/reed sensor or wiring may be faulty.

hi, thanks for the response, when the front is lifted and i spin the wheel there is no squeak noise and the motor seems to perform ok

If the issue is when the motor is under load it might be internal, possibly worn planetary gears or worn bearings. Does the motor spin true with no axle play ?

Also you haven't said how many wires the motor has.
If the motor is square wave then not all controllers work properly if they are for sensored motors.

Yes, no axle play, a slight imbalance at high speed though, 3 power wires going to motor, but another 3 not connected (blue , black, red)

Those motor halls really need fitting though the new controller might not be compatible, most modern hall sensor hubs /controllers have a minimum of 3 phase wires and 5 or 6 sensor wires. Yours having 3 +3 isn't very compatible, you could try connecting the 3 halls colour to colour with the new controller but not sure it will help. You might be better speaking to David Miall of Wisper bikes.

I think the other 3 wires may be a speed sensor rather than hall sensors

If they are speed sensor connect R/R, Blk/Blk and Blu/Wh on the controller hall plug.
The speed sensor uses a hall to detect the magnet and the other two are just for power.
