Nice to meet you all (so to speak). I'm fascinated by the idea of an e-bike, but I'm not sure yet that I can justify it. I drive a plug in hybrid car, and my commute doesn't quite get me there and back on battery (gap is about 10 miles round trip). Sometimes I take my Dahon folder in the boot and cycle the difference just to have the thrill of not using any petrol that day. Often I'm just a bit too lazy and console myself that the journey is 'mostly electric'.
I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this...
Thing is, I suspect I would still not use an e-bike for the 'last few miles' all the time once the novelty had worn off, and a folder is always a compromise.
I might have a look at towbar bike carriers - does anyone else do a part-drive part-cycle commute ? Not sure how quickly I could safely stow a bike carrier (suspect it would not be there at the end of the day if its left on the car) but if I'm going to spend £1-2k on a e-bike I want it to be one that I will want to ride at the weekends as well.
