Hello All!
Wanted to say hi and express my gratitude for this site. I've been reading for about a year and really enjoy all the insight about ebikes: technical, functional, and aesthetic.
JerrySimon's Brompton/Goldant build struck a particular chord and has inspired me to do the same. I will try to go throttle only, super simple, and portable/removable in case I wanted to go back to non-ebike mode with the original front wheel. I intend to grind 9mm axles down instead of the forks. I will also use a removable throttle ala cleanrepublic.com hilltopper kit.
As I am in Southern California and so far have not had any inquiry from police about my other ebikes, I am open to experiment beyond Jerry's "legal" setup and increase power/speed (ala I believe amigafan, cwah, ??). My first question would be how best to do so.
I will try to document my build as best I can, but be forewarned my technical knowledge is limited, but I make up for it by being unfazed at trial and error!
Wish me luck!
