Hey all,

I'm Mike and new to this forum, although I have read quite a few posts over the last few weeks and spent most of the hours of everyday for the last 2-3 weeks reading and watching videos all about ebikes.

I'm awaiting a budget Fat Bike to be delivered and the plan is to go electric.

Will be posting soonish about what I'm after or better still listen to what others might recommend.

Cheers
Mike

Just don't go for a budget direct drive motor with a tantalisingly low price and high power. It will be inefficient for all usage expect going fast on the flat, need a big and expensive battery to do even that well, and be illegal for almost all usage.

Definitely don't order any electrical stuff without running it by us first, otherwise you'll end up disappointed, like all the others, that bought stuff, then came on here to ask about it.

Thanks guys. I plan on ignoring all those unbranded motors and also staying within the EU, to avoid being stung my customs. Being a fat bike it looks like I'm limited to choice, but like the look of the Bafang G06 kit that Woosh has. Would still like more options though to give me some choice.

Would like a rear geared hub drive preferably. May consider a good mid drive, but want to be able to use the motor for assistance only, so prefer to keep the 21 gears the bike has to be honest.

I guess you aren't in too much of a hurry; there's a general shortage at the moment. For example, I think Woosh are out of all kits except Brompton one.

Yeah, thought that might be the case. Took me 4 attempts to buy the Fat Bike I just purchased and several other unsuccessful attempts from other makes/sellers. Although sating that, I still haven't actually got it in my hands yet so to speak.

I guess I may have to put a bit more effort into those hills in the mean time if I do have to wait o_O
