Hi,

I've been interested in the 'Riide' bike (http://riide.com) that was on Kickstarter although they aren't shipping to the UK unfortunately.

It pretty much has all the specifications I like:

- Twist and go throttle (no actual pedalling needed)

- Fairly light weight - have to carry it up stairs

- Looks like a bike (no police issues - used to have one of those electric bike moped looking things and would get pulled over at least every other day in central London)

- Steal proof (sounds silly but a home built one with a battery strapped to the frame temps people to look into the battery bag etc)

- 20mph speed - although 30mph option would be better with a nice amount of torque

If there is any other specs I will post.

I tried some of the Grace bikes although they need pedalling and I really didn't like the Nu Vinchi thing.

I also tried the 'The Electric Transport Shop' BOSS Super system http://www.electricbikesales.co.uk/shop/conversions/boss-super-system/prod_805.html

It is brilliant but again there is a battery bag etc and it is expensive for what it is and the way it is put together (not really a professional all in one bike, more slap dash - no offence).

So basically is there anything out there similar to what I've described? I've searched for ages on the internet now but am struggling to find anything. If anyone could help me I would really really greatly appreciate it. I've trawled through many pedelec posts in the past and thought it about time to join up!

Thanks in advance

It's actually both...30mph on pedal assist and 15mph on throttle only.

Definitely only for use on private land as it's ridiculously quick acceleration could be potentially dangerous in a built up area.

Sure, makes sense. Is it possible to disable it so it goes 30mph white just using the throttle though (for when on private land, of course)? Thanks again

I'm sure it is possible Billy, but it's not something I personally would condone doing as you would exhaust the 9Ah battery very quickly and invalidate any warranty on the bike.

Just so you know, those prices are the £ price and not Euros as depicted, so an even greater risk if warranty is declined.

Thank you for all the information Martin.

Probably not the bike I'm looking for then as 15mph is a little too slow.

Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks

No problem, just thought I'd highlight them as they cover most of your requirements, and are a fine looking range of bikes.

It's not actually an S-Pedelec you're after then I guess, but a high powered Throttle bike....You may have to go the self build route to get near to what you want, though that may be at the compromise on aesthetics and long term reliability (depending on your DIY skills)

I have thought about that and my DIY skills are actually pretty good. Regarding battery/bike/ec etc do you know any reputable websites that sell good stuff? Or do any of the Haibikes/KTMs fit the spec I'm looking for? Cheers

None of the Haibikes or KTM's have throttles.......

Many of the Forum members use BMS Battery and seem to have had fairly good experiences with them, though I have no personal experience with them.

yes, I'm afraid we have pretty strict rules about what we can and can't make... and if its got a throttle - its a motorbike, so made by the motorbike side of KTM.

For us, to be a pedelec, it should ONLY be pedal assist, so thats all we make.

I think a really good name for an e bike site or magazine would be The Electric Bicyclist. It has a nice retro feel to it and covers the subject. Although Pedelecs does too if you take the first part and the second together....
