Help needed - LCD display shows zero battery and no speed when pedalling

Can anyone help me what's gone wrong with my cyclotricity conversion kit - 250w front hub motor, KT-LCD1 display, PAS, controller and pannier battery. It powers on no problem but it thinks I have zero battery power and when I pedal although the PAS red light flashes and although the motor kicks in a bit the display indicates zero speed. After a while the motor seems to switch off too or is so weak I can't tell it's working. It's been going fine since May and I've been using it daily on a 9 mile round commute. I just stopped to sort out my chain that had slipped and now the LCD display and controller seemed to have thrown a wobbly and don't work. After five minutes of cycling it powers itself off because I assume it thinks it's not being used. Putting the power level up and down doesn't seem to work either. Help!

It's probably got/had water in it and needs replacing. All the wires are near to each other inside, so when you get water in it, it shorts one of the two battery wires to one of the two data wires and wipes or corrupts the software in the CPU.

That can also happen when the wires get pulled too hard and one breaks off from the PCB, or when the connector is not fully in or it's corroded.

So, check the connector first, then open the LCD, if it has screws underneath, to check it.

Did the chain slip off the front chain ring on the inside ?

Thank you for your replies. The chain came off in top gear from the rear sprockets and jammed.

I just read your post again. Are you saying that the number goes up and down from 0 to 5 when you press the up and down buttons? If they do, that's a good sign, and could be a data wire disconnected, though I think it gets the battery charge state from inside the LCD, so blank battery display would be a bad sign.
