London seems to be getting worse for near misses. I guess its tied up with the economic decline and higher stress levels...still no excuse for impatience and trying to kill us

I have bough in the past cheap mini cams and cant get on with them. So looking for recommendations for a decent video camera with choice of mounts. for around £50 - £100? or a bit more if it makes a big difference.

I have looked at past threads and just totally confused. I have seen the hi end £250 + ones but don't really want to pay that...

I'm in the same boat as eddie, all I have at the moment is a cheap handheld camera and my iPhone.
I have a full face helmet and a standard helmet I could mount from with the same budget really.

Thank you

Looks like a fine camera Eddie..

Price looks a bit steep, but might be worth of it's produces steady video...cheapest prices I found:

£158 on Amazon with free delivery and 5% (£7.90) cashback if you join their partnership scheme.
£160 from Expansys.. with 3.6% cashback (£5.76) if you use TopCashBack

£116 on Amazon USA site. My mate lives in LA and comes over 3-4 times a year to visit family and friends. I want a galaxy 7.7 3G tablet as well but cant find one...they are real silly prices here

I just got this one. I'll report on Monday if it's any good. Full 1080P; 2.5hrs recording time; 2 batteries included gives 5hrs; shower-proof; lots of mounting options
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
The only thing I can say so far is that the screen isn't easy to see in bright sunlight, but I don't yet know if it can be adjusted in a menu somewhere - time to read the instructions

I tried out the camera today, The LCD screen was easy to see today because it was a bit overcast, but yesterday in bright sunlight it wasn't so easy. There's also flashing LEDs for when it's recording, which are also useful.

I went all the way to work and back 30 miles and two hours with it recording. The battery managed it on one charge with plenty left - recording at full 1080P (1920 x 1080).

I played back on my TV because my PCs can't handle 1080P. The video quality was excellent as you can imagine. The little bit of shake because it was mounted on the handlebars blurred some details, but when I was stationary you could read car number plates up to about 100ft. I would say that comes down to about 50ft with the shake as long as it's not too rough.

The button sequences for the menus and settings take a bit of getting used to, but it's miles better than any of the other cameras I've tried.

I would say that this is the camera that sets the best standard for cyclists at the moment because of the long battery life, high quality images and the LCD screen which confirms what you're recording.

There's no point in uploading images because you probably won't be able to see them in 1080p. I tried to put a clip on Photobucket, but it just jammed up. I'll try again later

Hi D8veh, can you confirm which bike you used for this test? Perhaps a photo showing the bike and camera mounting postion? .. that would be great .... Can you not how long it takes to charge the battery after this kind of usage? Its nice to have 2 batteries! ... Can you confirm the price? Is it only available on ebay? ...

I uploaded a short clip. It doesn't look anything like it does on the TV. I don't know whether that's my laptop or whether Photobucket has applied a compression algorithm. I suspect the latter, but look how clear the car number plate is in the last few frames and the tree on the left. On the TV it's like that all over.

It took a couple of hours to charge. I think three is normal. They provide two batteries. It was about £107.
There's also this one:

Photobucket does add quite a bit of compression onto the uploads. It made my 640x480 Iphone video look a bit poop!

Becasue it can usually capture a number plate or behaviour.

But mostly its quite cool to get your adventures on film.
I want one for off roading!
