Hello people
I found this site trying to find information on a model of electric folding bike and I'm glad I found you because I read that it's not a very nice model
I'd appreciate it if someone could give me some guidance on what I'm looking for
I need a folding electric bike, as far as I understand it would be nice if it had a bigger battery, but the good ones are quite expensive
And I wouldn't take Chinese because it might not last even 2 days
I see they have 2nd use in Halfords but if I could hear your opinions/suggestions what would be good for me

There is nothing wrong with the Chinese bikes. They sometimes have minor problems, but are always easy to fix. If you're incapable of fixing anything, then you need to buy from a local dealer and the only choice is what they have.

Out of those Halfords bikes, the Appollo is only 24v and has a tiny battery, so no power and no range. the Cross City is sort of OK.It's a standard Chinese bike. The other two probably have closed (by comms protocol) systems, which makes servicing and repairs very expensive if you can get someone to do it. If I had to get one, it would be the Carrera because the standard Chinese parts are cheap and easy to replace or upgrade. Personally, I'd look for one with disc brakes. Rim brakes wear too quickly and have very unreliable performance.

Chinese generic e-bike is what I would go for while avoiding Halfords and second hand e-bikes.

Warning; ebike batteries have short lives!

I would take a Chinese bike only if someone can guarantee that they have used it and are satisfied in general, otherwise I would not risk it in any case
i was able to quickly grasp some things to look for when buying and the offer with the broken bike with no battery is not bad
maybe I'll write to the person
the comparison from the Halfords site was just an example ... I didn't say that these wheels were my final choice
thanks to what I read here in a thread I found out that the Raleigh Stow-e-Way has a problem going up hills ... someone wrote that it was because of the small battery .. so I will go for a model with a bigger one battery

Ever in cities or between villages ... where walking 10-15 miles is not an option
But it must be light because I will carry it on trains-in the trunk of a car
And the battery, if it is bigger, will be of help and benefit to me
That's basically it..

Both of those are very good bikes ( the components are Chinese, incidentally !, but none the worse for that). Wisper customer service and support are excellent. The problem with buying second hand e-bikes (as several of us have found to our cost) is that you can't know the condition of the battery. I would be tempted by that Wisper, but I would at minimum take a multimeter with me to check the charged voltage and ask a lot of questions as - how old ? and how has the battery has been looked after ? I think they are both expensive for second hand e-bikes, worth trying to negotiate. The Wisper with 700Wh battery is 22.5 kg

The potential problem is if the batteries been left empty for a long period of time (e.g. over winter) , that can damage the battery.

Most folding bikes are very heavy, not the sort of thing you'd want to take on a bus or trai, or not stick in the boot of the car every day. There are some that are lighter and fold better, but they're quite expensive, and generally light bikes have small batteries. With this sort of thing, all the different characteristics compete with each other. As one goes up another goes down. You can idealise what you want, but the chance of getting it is not high.

This guy uses a Mirider nearly every day, and he takes it in his car. He seems to be happy with it. he's been using it for over two years now, and it's featured in just about every video he's made since then, one a day from all over the country. 187,000 views of that video. That must have been the best free advertising they ever had. They should have given him a free GB3 for that.
