Hi Everyone
I’m Mike, Living in Lancashire - near to Burnley - although some say 'on The Edge of the Ribble Valley' - because it sounds posher - and a long time lurker on the site.
Anyway - I’ve just taken the plunge and ordered an new Giant Dirt E+ 2 - pick it up on Sunday.
I was looking at the Cube Cross hybrid 400 - but can’t find one anywhere near for love no money - preferred the understated looks of the cube - but after trying the Bosch and Yamaha motors and finding both would do the job for me - I’m happy with the Giant - I'll get used to the brightness -and if not there's always matt black vinyl wrap ! !
Tried it out and it’s a good fit for me in a Medium frame (I’m just shy of 6ft) - goes like an e-bike should
Years ago - I used to bike extensively - in the days well before mountain bikes could be bought off the shelf - (showing my age) when we used to build our own from bits and bobs from any old bike we could lay our hands on - and I wanted to get back into cycling.
But now the years have caught up with me and the fact that where I live is basically all hills - I tried a regular bike around town and up some of the steeper hills near the village - result purple face - heart bouncing around like a pig on a string - some of you will know the story ! ! - result of an office job for too many years.
Tried a Haibike and others - in the local shop - fantastic - completely blown away - and sold on the concept.
The Haibikes were out of my price range - but the Giant has come along - heavily discounted to about £1500 with a bit of a haggle - bargain in my book - and I can buy reasonably locally (40mins drive) which should help if anything goes wrong.
New location in my business means that instead of a 60 to 90 minute commute each way- I’ll have an 8 mile ride to an office so I can use the bike daily - as well as having a bash at tearing around the local woods and moors at weekend - can’t wait.
I’m sure that I’ll be asking random questions when I get started on this journey.
Good to say hi to you all - and to say one of the reasons I’ve sign up - is the pretty responsible attitude of the contributors - good banter - but no poison - what a relief.
I did think Kudos Dave was a hippy though - until I realised his connection to Kudos Bikes
Cheers
MIke
