Hello - long-time cycle commuter with distance to work about to double - will be looking for some advice

My advice would be to change job.

(I was very lucky and managed to move 200 miles and get a very short bicycle commute. I often go out of my way to lengthen it with detours. )

that's a long-term aim, but for long and boring reasons, it'll take a fair while
