I have a Raleigh velo electric bike for 12 months now to keep up with my husband and it's the best thing I have ever bought! Have had a few battery problems - Phylion DC37.0V . Getting around 22 miles on eco/ mid use but just wondered if I should be getting more. So happy to find this group which I'm sure I shall find informative.

Welcome to the forum Milo,

What is the capacity of your 37v battery, how hilly is your terrain and if dare I ask a lady what is your weight?

These are all factors that affect the range.

Hi
Not too bad - 8 and 1/2 stone - :) On my battery is says Hi Energy Phylion DC37.0V will have a look if anything else - it charges to four bars but there is no capacity in the last bar it just goes from two bars to nothing almost immediately. Terrain not too hilly - I am always conscious of how I am using it - rarely use max speed as I don't want to drain the battery and our rides are usually around 20 - 25 miles. I am seriously thinking of getting another battery but not sure where to source them from - have found the link to Raleigh Electric bikes on here though so will give them a try. Thanks for your reply.

from the picture, it looks like a 36V 10AH battery so 22 mile range is fair.
a new battery wouldn't get you much more than 22 miles, maybe up to 25 miles.

The recent ones from 2013 have a 11.6aH battery, which I'm sure is not a Phylion one unless Phylion have changed they're cells. We need to know exactly which one you have because I think I read somewhere that on the latest ones there's a communication system with the battery, which might mean that you need a special one.

Its worse. The older models too. From Electricbikemag.co.uk about the 2012 one :

" Cables from the battery run neatly down a channel behind the downtube and then inside the frame, including wires apparently carrying something called an ‘SMbus smart communication protocol’ which allows battery status, torque sensor output and other data to be updated constantly and shared between controller, battery management system, and handlebar display."
