My Motus is 10 days old. I've just retired and have been doing a lot of walking. Then I saw the GTech advert. I know nothing about bicycles. Visited about four dealers and eavesdropped on this forum. I wanted the GoCycle but thought I would stand out from the crowd too much. Decided on the Motus which took two months to be delivered. Other than being too heavy I really enjoy riding it, mostly in 6th gear (nexus hub) on eco setting and tour setting on the way home.
The first two days the gears kept skipping. Thanks to Google and YouTube I learnt what to do. The gears are behaving now. The walk mode does not get the bike up my steep stairs. I've got a flight of 10 then 4 steps from road level to the house. I just got to hump the heavy bike up the steps till I figure how I can get ramps fitted.

Hmmmm! You should have got the Gocycle if you could have afforded it. It's a fantastic bike. It goes very fast if you want. It's easy to carry and is very light. I love them, but can't afford one.

Welcome to the forum PG,just had a wee look at the gocycle and can see what you mean about sticking out from the crowd but in your case it might have been worth it with all them stairs you need to get the bike up and down,am also in Glasgow so maybe bump into you someday, cheers

Yes, let that be a lesson to me. I avoid roads as much as I can. I mainly use NCR 7 and 754. I find Glasgow a very bike friendly place and its nice to get smiles and acknowledgement from other bikers along the cycling paths

Had to Google what the NCR 754 was and that's the very canal path I use to get to work, also use it sometimes to go along towards kilsyth etc.

That brings back happy memories. I used to fish for Pike in the canal around Maryhill. I also took part in a "clean up the canal" day, during which they found a dead body in it as well as all the normal things. One time, I saw two drunks trying to have a punch-up, but they were so drunk that they couldn't actually hit each other. I saw a guy there fishing for pike to feed his dog. He caught one about 3 pounds and chucked it to the dog, who tore into it, like a wolf, as the pike flapped hopelessly on the ground. All that was in 1975 and 1976, the two hotest summers that I've experienced. I can remember walking down to the canal in the middle of March in just a T-shirt. The sun didn't go away until September. Thanks for reminding me.
