Hi all,
I'm new here. i was browsing around a few days ago and decided to register at Pedelecs and i just got my account verified.I'm in Singapore and almost everyone owns an electric bike these days. My first electric bike got stolen about a month ago and i just bought a new one. Its only 48 volts and has a rear hub motor of 250 watts.
Let me see if the picture of my bike can be posted here:
Seems like the picture link works.
Well what brought me here is i read something about modifying an electric bike to go faster, i guess many people are keen to know that too?
You might laugh if you read this, in my country all e bikes with a throttle is considered illegal ...which i find it rather silly. I just got stopped by the traffic police just for having a throttle and i have not modified anything yet.
So i'm logging in here to see what i can learn from you guys and know whats new in the market and what's other gadgets can i get online.
Also i have a question to ask,
How can i know how many watts of motor to use if i only have 4 SLA batteries (12v each) which totals to 48 volts.
I read something about soldering the shunt of the controller, i still have a china made brand new controller which states 450w and can handle 48v/60v.
Honestly i don't know much about electricity and right now i'm wondering if i can just solder the shunt of my controller just about 1/4 of it and will i gain speed from it? If it does will i run out of batteries faster?
Right now i can travel about 40-50 kilonmeters without stopping to charge the battery.
Most importantly, can i just buy some lithium polymer ( hope i spell that right ) batteries and total it to 60v and replace to to my existing batteries?
Will the motor work if its switched from SLA to lithium batteries?
Really would love to get some help here
Thank you.
