Hi, I've got a Heinzmann kit (which I acquired secondhand a year or so ago) fitted to my psuedo-Dutch hybrid conversion. It has the 36v Lithium battery, a controller mounted in a separate aluminium box and a twist throttle, and was originally supplied by Kinetics in Glasgow. All was fine for quite a while until the bumpy roads of Sheffield caused the motor connector contacts on the control unit to fail intermittently, I could usually get going again by waggling the connector or bending the contact with a small screwdriver. A few moths ago I replaced the connector with a genuine Neutrik Speakon chassis mount socket, and all was well again for a while.
I now have a problem that the bike intermittently cuts out - the throttle lights remain on, I can hear a click from the controller but the motor does not turn. Sometimes if I continue riding I will find that the throttle lights go out completely. If I leave it for a while it often will start working again, and sometimes I can complete a journey without a problem. I've checked connections and everything seems secure. A couple of times recently I've found that giving the controller a sharp tap leads to things working again for a while, which suggests that I might be suffering from a sticking relay contact in the controller, but nothing is consistent.
Has anyone got any suggestions of more things I could do to identify what is wrong? I may be up to soldering in a new relay if that is the problem, but sourcing the right replacement could be difficult. I'm aware that getting a new controller from Heinzmann could be difficult, and would definitely be expensive. Are there any alternative controllers that would work with the Heinzmann motor and throttle if I can't sort out the problem with the existing one?
Cheers
Pete
