I think I need a stronger one, mine (whenever I get it back) is drooping further and further over so is pretty much knackered now.
I've got the standard Wisper one fitted and it seems strong enough for light use but I really need a bit more than that, I may be able to repair it but if I can buy a much better one for a few quid then it's probably worth the investment. I want something more akin to a motorcycle stand but designed to fit the rear of a pushbike, so does anyone know where I can get this dream product? I'd also be willing to adapt something intended for a different use as long as it doesn't involve welding.
Is there a proper name for this bit of kit that I could put into Google to get sensible hits?

Any experience of centre stands out there? It would make servicing easier but would be difficult to fit, is it a white elephant?

I had a useful centre stand on my old Powabyke commuter. It certainly looked like an add on accessory but I have no idea where you would get one. It worked well, took the Powabyke's weight and never gave any trouble. It came as part of the standard equipment.

Yes my stand seems a bit weak too and the bike seems a bit unstable on it. Is there any way to fix it or is it just a case of the stand not being strong enough for the weight of the bike?

The type of centre stand shown by RedSkywalker can foul a derailleur chain on your Wisper.

One solution is to fit the strong Pletscher esge stand which folds up to the nearside, if there's a place to mount a centre stand under the battery. The legs can be cut to the length you want and have markings for that. Here's the one on my Q bike, first photo folded, second photo down:

In stock at SJS for 26" wheel bikes. There's also a version for 700c that they also stock.

Looking at how the centre stand fits I think there may be a problem attaching it to a Wisper, I'll look at that carefully. Your side stand however would go, is it sturdy? I suspect you are going to tell me it came with the bike.

No, that clamp on sidestand isn't very strong, I bought it from a local shop. The usual problem, the clamp is fine but the leg weak, though it hasn't broken. Weak propstands are seemingly the norm on bikes.

I've used this cheap and cheerful model on a couple of bikes and although it's bit bendy it doesn't break, but it clamps like the esge stand so might not suit.

This Monza stand looks a lot more robust, and it clamps onto the rear frame tube so may suit you.

A couple of comments on weight. I found somewhere on the web and now i cant find it, max weight limits for these stands. They seemed quite low, so watch out for that.

I've also seen this discussed on CTC and their have been people reporting frame damage from some of these stands. ie in these cases the frame wasnt strong enough for the weight being put through it. I havent seen strain on my agattu from this, but its worth keeping an eye on it.
