Thanks Paul for that concise summary of the bike, I sure many people would be interested in more details of it's hill climbing ability, perhaps when you've done a few more miles you could post details of the effort you feel is required to get up hills of a certain gradient at a given speed, of course as with many performance aspects the results will be highly subjective but it will give us some figures to compare with the Torq 1.

Given that the bike has the same frame and wheels as the original Torq I feel that it should be OK for some of us shorties. Flecc and I are both 5'6'' and manage just fine, although I fitted a standard seat post to lose a bit of height on mine. It's possible that the sus' forks raise the front end slightly but the effect on saddle height should be minimal. My 28" inside leg is about the absolute minimum though, any less would require a cricketers box to stand astride the crossbar.

My route has a long sustained hill of around 3/4 of a mile which is long rather than steep and a short 300 yard hill that is probably about 35 - 40 degrees. the bike eats the shallow gradient without much effort on my part at all. the steep hill requires a good amount of effort and assist but the low gear copes easily (ive never had to get out of the seat either). you need to bear in mind i was pretty much a couch potato before getting the bike so if a fat unfit person like me finds it easy, it should be v easy for someone of average physical ability. I will endavour to count the teeth on the front to compare with the old model. the 50 cycles site gives the rear teeth numbers and also states that the new motor helps too. I will also try to find a long steep hill and give it a go. my gut feeling is that no hill will scare me around coventry but its difficult to say how that would compare to a more rural setting.

should have also said that as noted earlier that my legs are not getting full power as my seat is too low. this will also improve power going up hills when i sort it out.
