My missus wouldn't let me in the house if I came back in a state like that!

I know my place and 2017 won't be any different.

Nice one Eddie, same to you and all electric heads on here :)
Enjoy the mud!
(Those new tyres look good for it).

I'd forgotten just good that a new set of DZO's are when things turn muddy.
They are also brilliant across tree roots and off camber fallen branches that have no bark. The sort of thing that could have you on your backside quicker than you can react. They are also superb for exiting clay sided ruts.
The only limiting being your own confidence in them.
I've learnt that the best way to ride is with a no hesitation throw it at the obstacle approach. If the tyres do start to let go, then it is of no issue as you are already past the hazard. :)

I count my crashes at 3 so far, which isn't too bad for well over 2k miles of biking and scootering. A couple of those I blame on the dog. The slip over the wooden bridge, I'll put down to experience and I'll try and learn from that. :)

Yours is definitely the best approach Ed. Throw yourself at it. You feel the slip, then you're over it and gone. Hesitation will make you go over the obstacle in slow time. That's much more risky.

I used to be indecisive. But now, I'm not so sure.
