Hamster Syndrome

Featured Replies

Hi, I am fairly new to Electric Bicycles and thought I would relate an experience which may help others. eBikes were brought to my attention due to living in an undulating, fairly remote landscape, the temporary (thankfully) loss of a driving licence, and a need to exercise more. After the loan of an eBike I first acquired a used Powabyke Folder and then also a used PB Euro 5 speed 24". Here comes the 'Hamster Syndrome' - a situation I had come across whilst reading http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/2348-changing-derailleur-windsor.html#post30178. Thanks flecc. I thought it worth mentioning again due to the Euro having been transformed - by cutting out the centre and bolting on an eBay sourced 40/48 toothed chain ring and guard (and I have since changed the 48T for a 52T and can fly along the flatter parts of the countryside with 'lazy legs'). I included the 40T sprocket in the modification just in case - a bit of stick would make an excellent derailleur! - but having got fitter haven't had to use it yet. Sorted for very little money
