Half toe-clip pedals?

My Pro Connect is the first bike I have had that has plain flat pedals, as I've always used toe-clip pedals before. It may be that I'm not used to them but I've had a couple of occasions where my feet slid out and lost contact with the pedals making for a very uncomfortable feeling of losing control.

I know that toe-clips are so last year now and clip-less pedals are very popular but, for commuting, I prefer to be able to use my regular shoes. I thought that a good compromise may be half toe-clip pedals like these:

Has anyone any experience of these? Are they a good idea? Is there another solution to stop my feet slipping off the pedals?

Hi Barry,

i tried some similar to those & found them a bit too springy & tended to 'fall out' of the sides, now i use the Elite miniclips, solid moulded, never slip out of them, Halfords £7.

look like this:

let us know how you get on,

I went for a cheap option because I didn't know how successful they would be - I am very happy with them and haven't slipped out of the side at all:
Delta Strapless Clips Only £4.99 from Wiggle.

nope, not the zefal....

Thanks Beeps. I like the sound of that, I couldn't find the Elite miniclips on any websites but I have found some that look similar:

Zefal MTB Mini Toe Clips | Toe Clips | Cycle - Cycle Sports UK
Hi again, i tried the zefal ones too, these are too floppy..... the Elites are rigid.

if you're not near a Halfords, you can get them on line:

Elite Bike Toe Clips only £6.99 Compare Prices

or these look similar, but don't know if they are sturdy like the Elite:

Pedalite KPL200 - Toe Clips: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Leisure

best,

I used the Elite Toe Clips for about 6 months. Personally I didn't think they were that good. I cleaned up a pair of Seventies Sturmy Archer chromed Steel clips I had lying around and fitted some new black nylon straps. They are "so last year" they're seriously fashionable...:D
