Does anyone know what the mini usb port is for ?

I plugged it into my Mac, and it did nothing. Is it for charging ?

I believe it is for charging your phone or other modern gadget. 5v 500ma, I think.

Seems a good idea until it rains. The rubber cover is the only protection against water ingress.

It's fine re. water ingress as it's totally sealed inside the port. The copper/brass pins will be fine with some water. If it's used near salty water then a quick squirt of wd40 will suffice.

The USB socket is mainly there for me to plug diagnostics kit into in the event of a problem. But you can also use it to charge gadgets using the power of your Bosch eBike battery.

You can use this cable to convert to female usb so then you can plug most gadgets into it and recharge on the fly - http://www.e-bikeshop.co.uk/eBike-Spare-Parts/bosch-usb-converter

Can we take it then that the new 2014 Haibike range has submarine capability? I ask only as ferry fares to the islands are a major operating cost for us low level ebike hire merchants in the nw?
