Male, late 60's, married, reasonably fit but some wear and tear. Live in west Somerset where the choice is up hill or down hill. Also twisty with the occasional sheep. Have Parkinson's which is a nuisance. Had to give up the motorcycle because balance is affected - can't make subtle adjustments. Anyway, read that cycling is do-able so dusted of the Claude Butler and went for spin around the church yard (Widershins of course). What a revelation! No problems at all with balance. Suspect that pedaling acts like a gyroscope.
So I would like to get an e bike to go exploring. I have spent way too much time on the interweb looking but of course desires out-weigh funds. Does anyone know of a new e bike meeting these criteria:
Step through frame
mid drive/chain drive
internal gears e.g. Nexus
<£1000
Cheers

welcome to the forum, Stephen.
You won't find any chain drive bike with Nexus hub gear for £1000.
If the budget can't be flexible, you will need to convert something like this with a chain drive kit:

The cheapest step through CD bike is the Woosh Santana CD and that does not have a hub gear, just 7-speed derailleur.

My thinking was the Santana is £800 so one should be able to substitute a Nexus for the derailleur for <£200. Or am I missing something?

woosh have the Nexus-7 on 700C wheels, the Santana CD has 26" wheels, they can't do it for you for the Santana CD, may be OK for the Santana CDL.
